It’s Easy.
It’s Simple.
Start Living.
It is really simple. We all should start living an easy, simple life now. But how is this possible? Many of us are not even chasing a million-dollar dream. Or dreaming of retiring early. Yet, we felt drained every day after work. Binge-watching on Netflix seems to be our cure to fix our tiredness, but it is nothing more than a temporary cocktail. The following day, the whole cycle repeats itself. How can we break away from this vicious cycle?
The first step we need to do is to change our mindset. Even though most of us are working for someone or some company, it does not mean we have no control over our work and have to let work dictate our lives. Or some of us may feel that our lives are spiraling out of control. Frustrated over our children’s squabbling, the suffocating feeling during lockdowns in the COVID19 pandemic; All these somehow make us want to escape. What if we see things from another angle? Another perspective which, under normal circumstances, we do not see (or refuse to see)?
Make Simple Living Easy
I call this the Alternate Angle Approach (AAA). For example, imagine taking a bus to your destination, but unfortunately, you got off two bus stops earlier. Feeling frustrated would be a normal response, as it caused you to lose time and wasted your energy walking an extra 1km. However, with AAA, you will tell yourself that this little “mishap” can help burn off the extra calories you have gained from last night’s supper. The hot sun might be unbearable, but you haven’t exactly been outdoors for quite a while lately. A boost in vitamin D is welcomed.
AAA is not a self-deceiving approach. If I made a blunder and got punished, I won’t kid myself that that is perfectly fine. That will be a dangerous mindset as we will stop improving. AAA is more than positive thinking. It is CREATIVE positivity. Once we have mastered AAA, everything that we do has a purpose, and we can start to see a lot of meaning in whatever we are doing. We will then harvest time (a concept I will share in my blog) and start to achieve more and feel more fulfilled. Eventually, we can help one another live a simple yet rewarding life.
